The New York Energy Week 2019 Opening Ceremony will open to the week's theme: The Energy Ecosystem of The Future. How will we build it to meet the energy demands of this century while addressing today's natural and human-influenced challenges?

In 2014, New York launched NY REV.  This evening we will reflect on that vision and look towards the future at this 5th anniversary:

• NY State’s progress since launching NY REV in terms of renewables, jobs, and improved energy infrastructure
•  The path that is laid out for the next 2+ decades for the energy industry which will continue what NY has built thus far and the pathwayfor NY to be 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040
• The implications for the Nation's Energy Policy

Welcome to New York Energy Week 2019!

With renewable energy generation and DER on the rise, an increased need for energy storage is imminent.  As energy policy promotes grid-level storage, utilities build on these opportunities.  Energy storage will enable cities, states, and countries to better meet their carbon reduction goals to manage the grid, and improve resiliency.

This official New York Energy Week breakfast series will feature a moderated panel of experts as we explore the economic and technical challenges of energy storage for ISOs, utilities and developers.

This approach results in a permanent peak demand reduction which enables the property owners to reduce their summer peak demand by 2.1 megawatts (MW), resulting in $2.5 million in annual cost savings according to a new NYSERDA case study. The system stores thermal energy like a battery to keep occupants comfortable. Energy is charged inside CALMAC® energy storage tanks when excess or inexpensive energy is available and discharged when demand is high or price is high.

This dynamic NYEW Plant Tour event features a tour of the modern, energy efficient steam system installed in the iconic Woolworth building. Following the tour, we will have expert speakers from DCAS, ConEd, the city council, and other providing insight into the future of energy efficiency and the critical role steam power can play. With new building and emission standards, ConEd steam, combined with modern technology, has an advantage over natural gas and other heating methods in terms of emissions and energy efficiency.

This event features a moderated panel with a regional energy perspective discussing pathways to 100% clean power in New York by 2040, in front of an audience of approximately 100 energy professionals.  In particular the panel will focus on key issues such as transmission, access to clean base load power and development of local intermittent renewable energy.
This event will dive deeper into the challenges of building a carbon neutral economy discussed at earlier event and, by providing a regional perspective, this event lays the groundwork for the global energy challenges event in the evening of the 26th.

Companies, governments, and industries span the globe in their energy pursuits. What can we learn from the opportunities encountered in other regions, as developments and changes to the energy industry occur at a varying pace depending on economic drivers, government incentives and policies, and market opportunities.

At this official NYEW Evening Series event, a moderated panel of industry leaders will explore this topic bringing a range and depth of experience from their long careers in energy with respect to geopolitics, energy independence, decarbonization of energy, and climate change.

Following the panel, registered attendees at this event will be invited to join us at a private reception for drinks and networking.

On June 27th, New York Energy Week will host the inaugural “Disruptors Day” meet dedicated to start-ups, products and companies with the potential to change the industry as we know it. The day will comprise of multiple round table sessions and presentations for Disruptors to present their businesses and technology. At the end of the day, judges will choose a “Judge’s Choice 2019 NYEW Disruptor”. Audience members will also make their selection for  the “People’s Choice 2019 NYEW Disruptor”. Part competition, part thought leadership event on who and what really is a “Disruptor”. Check out our finalists here!
